• communication

  • Communication is an essential tool among teachers, parents, and students.

I will communicate with you via ParentSquare and QZangle mass emails. There is a ParentSquare phone app that makes it easy to access. I will be able to respond fairly quickly using ParentSquare. Please check in with the office if you do not have an account set up.

Our second tool of communication is eKadence. eKadence is the district's Learning Management System pilot program. It's in its second year of piloting. eKadence is a program that organizes all of your students' assignments. To access eKadence as a parent, please follow the directions on the Magic Link direction sheet.  eKadence provides parents with the following information:

    • the due date of an assignment.
    • each digital/non-digital assignment your student is expected to complete.
    • the ability to know exactly what your child is doing in history.
    • the ability to see the digital work your child is producing.

The third means of communication is through email. Email is the quickest way to have your questions answered. If a phone call comes in, teachers must wait until the end of the day or the beginning of the next, before they can return your call. Emails have a much faster turnaround. turnerdl@cajonvalley.net

The last means of communication will be a progress report emailed to you at the beginning of each week. I use iGradePlus as my grading program, so you will not find history grades in the Parent Portal. At the beginning of the year, I send out an invitation through the email(s) you have provided the district with, which gives you the directions you need to be able to access your child's grade 24/7.

As you can imagine, having over 170 students can be challenging. Often, we are not alone in our room to be able to speak in private, so we utilize the methods above for efficiency and privacy. If you are concerned about your child's progress, please email, so we may address the needs of your child.
