The above link shows the mathematics courses offered at Hillsdale, in addition to which courses follow for your promoting 8th grader into high school.

    Common Core Math 8

Student Edition:  CA Go Math: Middle School Grade 8 (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)

Course Description:  Math is a powerful tool for global understanding and communication. Using it, students can make sense of the world and solve complex and real problems. Rethinking math in a global context offers students a twist on the typical content that makes math itself more applicable and meaningful for students. While working at a slower pace, CC Math 8 focuses on The Number System (know that there are numbers that are not rational, and approximate them by rational numbers), Expressions and Equations (work with radicals and integer exponents, understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations, analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations), Functions (define, evaluate, and compare functions, use functions to model relationships between quantities), Geometry (understand congruence and similarity using physical models, transparencies, or geometry software, understand and apply the Pythagorean theorem, solve real-world and mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones and spheres), Statistics and Probability (investigate patterns of association in bivariate data).  For students to function in a global context, math content needs to help them get to an all-inclusive competence, which is understanding different perspectives and world conditions, recognizing that issues are interconnected across the globe, as well as communicating and acting in appropriate ways.

    Common Core Honors Math 8

Student Edition:  CA Go Math: Middle School Grade 8 (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)

Course Description:  This course consists of the Grade 8 Common Core Mathematics Standards listed above, however will require students to apply concepts at a higher level, and at a more rapid pace.

Common Core Accelerated Integrated Math I

Student Edition:  Integrated Mathematics 1 – Volumes 1 and 2 (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)

Course Description:  Integrated Mathematics 1 is the first course of a three-course sequence including Integrated Mathematics 1, Integrated Mathematics 2, and Integrated Mathematics 3 and follows the Integrated Math Pathway in the Common Core State Standards. IM 1 is designed to use patterns, models, and conjectures to build mathematical understanding. Students taking this course will extend their knowledge in Number and QuantityAlgebraFunctionsModelingGeometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students will deepen and extend their understanding of linear relationships and be introduced to exponential functions, modeled through data.  Students will use properties and theorems involving congruent figures to expand and broaden understanding of geometric knowledge.  Students will experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that draws on their ability to make sense of problem situations, and will develop the ability to explore and solve mathematical problems, think critically, work cooperatively with other students and communicate mathematical ideas clearly.
