In this section we will focus on Level 1 Resources and Ideas
World of Work Framework
Level 1- Students will spend time discovering about the World of Work.
Teachers already have many great ideas for teaching about family workers, community workers and global workers.
Assessments:
- Students grade 6-8 will access the Super Strong to learn about their RIASEC code. (One pager overview attached below.)
Other ideas:
- Introduce Holland's Codes (RIASEC) using either the poster or the foam boards.
- Use Original or Pictorial job cards to learn about a job in small groups.
- Explore careers via newspapers and magazines as part of a playlist.
- Collaborate with other students in small groups using the games and activities.
- Play games with the My Job cards during a rotation station.
- Use Reader's Theater scripts during ELD.
- Communicate about strengths, interests and values using the SIVJ cards during whole group instruction.
- Use the puppets to practice oral language skills.
- Read books about different careers.
- Explore the Sanford Harmony materials.
Below are descriptions of the resources available either in your WOW Resource Kit or Digitally. Digital resources can be found either under your grade level tabs, linked next to the image or linked at the bottom of the page. (Some items can be found in several locations.)

Career Interest Party Game

Explore Cards

Explore Cards that correspond one for each of the 6 RIASEC codes.
Your WOW kit will have a package with a hard copy of the Explore Cards and Work Activities for your grade level. All Explore Cards and Work Activities can be found in digital format also. Go to the tab under your grade level and you will find a the digital resources in the google drive.
The Explore Cards can be used as you prepare to introduce the Work Activities or on their own.

Who Am I - Introduces Hollands Interest Themes
Holland Codes and the abbreviation RIASEC refer to John Holland's six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional.
