    We feed kids. We support our students, communities and educational environments by offering a variety of healthy menu options every day. To help maintain a high participation rate in our program, we involve our stakeholders in the development of our feeding program. We practice sound fiscal management, as well as, proven food safety programs.

    We are moms, dads and community members personally invested in the success of our schools. We are a team of 160 people that are committed to taking great care of our kids, our community and each other. Thank you for entrusting your children to us.

    The Child Nutrition team serves approximately 20,000 plus meals and snacks per day at approximately 40 schools and preschool sites throughout the greater Cajon Valley area. We have 17 sites participating in CEP (Community Eligiblility Provision), Universal Feeding, for the 2019-2020 school year. We had a Summer Feeding program at 8 school and community sites for the summer of 2019.

    Through the support of the community, we are lucky to have a state-of-the-art central kitchen and fully-operational kitchens at all of our middle schools.

    The purpose of this policy is to establish consistent meal charging and collection procedures for our community, parents, students and our Child Nutrition school site staff. Through the implementation of this policy, the Child Nutrition program can continue its mission of a healthy variety of meals for all students and operating in a self-sufficient manner, wholly separate from the district's general fund.

    The goals of these procedures are:

    • To maintain a positive experience for our students during meal service
    • To treat all students with dignity and respect
    • To establish practices which are age-appropriate
    • To minimize meal charges and encourage parents to pre-pay for all meals
    • To promote parents' responsibility for meal payments and self-responsibility for students

    The Board of Education acknowledges that on occasion, students lose or forget meal money. In such cases, students will be fed.

    When a student repeatedly comes to school without a meal or money for a meal, administrators evaluate each circumstance individually, and decide if further action is necessary, i.e., send home a meal application or contacting social services.

    Our pre-paid meal system, MyPaymentsPlus, can be accessed through our district homepage or at: https://www2.mypaymentsplus.com/ The online, prepaid system allows your child access to all of our offerings and is easy for parents to use.

    Repayment for meal charges - every effort will be made to collect unpaid meal charges. When a student has $10.00 of meal charges, a letter will be sent to the household from the Child Nutrition central office. At $15.00, administrators will be notified and a formal letter will be sent to the household from the district. Progressive notification will continue as long as there is outstanding debt - this could also include submitting information to a debt collection agency.

    At the end of the school year, the amount of uncollected meal debt must be paid to the child nutrition meal fund account from a district funding source. These monies typically come from the general fund. Our hope is that through establishment and application of this policy, no meal debts will go unpaid and all general fund monies will go toward our students' educational experience.
