Maria Lemus

Necessary Conditions Counselor

Hello families!
My name is Maria Lemus, and I’m proud to serve as one of the Necessary Conditions Counselor here at Johnson Elementary. This is my 9th year at Johnson and my 10th year in the district. In my new role, I focus on creating the necessary conditions for every student to learn and thrive!

Johnson truly feels like my second home. I’ve watched so many of our students grow up here, and I care for them as if they were my own. I’m deeply grateful to be part of a school community that leads with heart and always puts kids first.

On a personal note, I’m a proud mom of seven-year-old twin boys who keep life full of energy, curiosity, and laughter. I’m also a big book lover and am always happy to swap recommendations!

I’m looking forward to another amazing year partnering with you to support your child’s growth and success.

I got my undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University and my MA in School-Based Clinical Counseling from the University of San Diego. I am originally from Seattle, WA and moved to San Diego in 2019. I love to help students see all their wonderful qualities, build their resilience, strengthen their friendships, and motivate them to grow even when it's hard!
