Mike Kuhfal

Hello Crest Coyotes!

My name is Mike Kuhfal, and I am truly honored to serve as the principal of Crest Outdoor Immersion School. From the moment I stepped on campus, I could feel the heart and energy of this community. Crest is a place where students are known, supported, and celebrated—a school that embraces curiosity, connection, and the power of outdoor learning.

From my short time at Crest, I’ve already come to see and feel a guiding theme: One Crest. One Team. One Journey. It’s more than a slogan—it’s a reflection of how this community shows up for one another. We are one school, strengthened by the unique contributions of our students, families, and staff. We operate as one team, collaborating with care, creativity, and purpose. And we are on one journey—growing, exploring, and learning together, year after year.

As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, our campus continues to grow and shine—literally and figuratively. Over the summer, Crest received some exciting updates: fresh paint throughout campus, new carpet and updated furniture in our Coyote Hall, and a new bike rack to support our active learners. Our staff lounge was also refreshed to better support the amazing educators who make this school so special. These changes reflect our shared pride in this school and the vibrant learning environment we are building—together.

I strongly believe that relationships are at the core of everything we do. Whether it’s between students, families, staff, or the broader community, we believe strong connections build the foundation for learning and well-being. I look forward to building those relationships—with our students, their families, and our incredible team—and learning more about what makes each of you special. I’m especially excited to discover your strengths, interests, and values, and to partner with you in creating joyful, inclusive learning experiences.

I also want to honor the leadership of Principal Sabrina Copeland. Her impact on Crest is lasting and deeply felt, and I’m grateful to carry forward the strong foundation she helped build with you.

As a leader, my beliefs align closely with our district’s vision: Happy Kids, Engaged in Healthy Relationships, on a Path to Gainful Employment. I value our diversity and celebrate each child’s uniqueness. I believe school should be a place where students feel safe to take risks, explore, collaborate, and grow—not only as learners but as people.

To all of our students, families, and staff: thank you for welcoming me into this special community. I am proud to be a Coyote and excited to be part of all the learning, laughter, and growth ahead. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, say hello, or share your ideas.

Here’s to an incredible year ahead full of celebrations and growth!

With respect and appreciation,

๐Ÿ’™It’s a GREAT day to be a Coyote!
