Board Policy as it relates to 8th Grade Promotion

Attention Parents/Guardians of 8th-grade student(s):


As we look forward to our end of year 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony it is essential that we communicate important school board policies in relation to Promotion Ceremony requirements.


It is the expectation of Montgomery Middle School and the Governing Board that our 8th-grade students meet the following criteria to participate in the Promotion Ceremony.

Students MUST have a cumulative G.P.A. of  1.5 or higher AND no more than 25 absences during the school year.


8th Grade Activities & Eligibility:

The end of the year marks a special time for 8th graders. 8th graders who have the following, may not be eligible for activities leading up to the promotion.

  • No disqualifying discipline issues
  • GPA lower than 1.5
  • more than 25 absences in the school year


5 or more tardies in any class lose Aquatica

7 or more tardies in any class lose pool party

9 or more tardies in any class lose dance

11 or more tardies in any class lose yearbook signing


*Attending a Saturday School can excuse up to five tardies and an absence
