Board Policy as it relates to 8th Grade Promotion

Attention Parents/Guardians of 8th grade student(s):


As we look forward to our end of year 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony it is essential that we communicate important school board policies in relation to Promotion Ceremony requirements.


It is the expectation of Montgomery Middle School and the Governing Board that our 8th grade students meet the following criteria to participate in the Promotion Ceremony.


  1. Maintain a minimum of 1.5 grade point average for the 8th grade academic year

  2. No more than 25 excused or unexcused absences per 8th grade school year


Students who do not meet the criteria to participate in 8th grade promotion and/or activities will receive an attendance certificate in lieu of a promotion certificate at the end of the school year.


In addition to Promotion, Montgomery Middle School has established specific eligibility requirements for other 8th grade end-of-year activities:


  1. Maintain a minimum of 1.5 grade point average for the 8th grade academic year

  2. No more than 25 excused or unexcused absences per 8th grade school year

  3. No disqualifying discipline issues
