You may have heard the news that the County of San Diego was removed from the state’s COVID-19 watchlist and wonder what it means for Cajon Valley. While this is encouraging news that could help pave the way for us to reopen, there are also some important things to keep in mind. These numbers will need to stay within the acceptable range for at least 14 days before San Diego County schools will be allowed to reopen without a waiver. Cajon Valley is one of three public school districts that have applied for this waiver as of Tuesday that would allow us to bring back our TK-6th grade students to school even if San Diego County does not make it off the watch list.
In order to prepare for a thoughtful, safe, and phased reopening of our school sites we will be asking you to complete a very brief survey to verify your preference for in person or distance learning when your child’s school reopens. Please look for this survey on Monday.
For detailed information on San Diego County’s monitoring and waiver process please visit the County’s COVID-19 resource page here. We will also continue to share updates as they become available. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we adjust to these ever-changing conditions.
