July 27 - Fall Update Letter to Parents

July 27, 2020

Dear Cajon Valley Families,

As you may have heard, Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an order about reopening and closing schools. In the order, he is requiring all districts that are located in counties on the state’s public monitor list to start the school year with distance learning until certain conditions are met. This includes San Diego County.

As a result of the new order, Cajon Valley Union School District will begin the 2020/2021 school year with 100% distance learning, August 19th, 2020.

Cajon Valley believes that our developed plan to include the on-line, hybrid and full time in school options are the best and most flexible for our families and students.  It is our intent to implement all options as soon as the Governor's office and local health directives allow us to do so.

We recognize that continuing distance learning poses challenges and hardship for many families and have learned much from Spring closures.  The following priorities have been established for Fall distance learning:

  • Live teacher led daily instruction
  • Teacher created personalized student lessons
  • Focus on state standards using district pacing guides
  • Enrichment and Physical Education lessons
  • Graded assignments
  • Daily attendance tracking
  • Teacher feedback on student progress

We will continue to work to improve plans that support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all students and families.

Additional information will be provided throughout the summer as details become available. Please visit our website for timely updates regarding the 2020/2021 school year.

Sincerely,

Karen Minshew
Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services
