Ms. April Torre

Welcome to 3rd Grade at Fuerte Elementary! I have been part of the Fuerte Falcon Family for the past 27 years. Many of my former students are now grown and contributing to the world in exciting ways. They range from teachers to mayors!

I attended San Diego State University where I majored in art. After a few years as a starving artist, a friend convinced me to give teaching a try. A year later, I had a teaching credential from PLNU. All of my experiences in life have come in handy in the classroom. Flexibility and creativity are a must as a classroom teacher.

After about ten years in the classroom, I felt the need for more education and went back to PLNU for my Master’s degree in reading instruction. Over the years, I have earned additional credentials in teaching GATE (gifted and talented) students, English learners, and reading. My passion is to continue to learn new things and to become a better teacher each year. As I grow as a learner, I love encouraging my students to do the same.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my extended family, including my 3 nieces and 1 nephew. They live in beautiful mountain towns, where I enjoy the forest landscape. Quilting is a creative outlet for me. I also love going for walks, cooking, and reading.
