Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Jill Smith and I am an Education Specialist at Naranca Elementary. As a case-manager, I will be supporting your child in the general education classroom as well providing specialized academic instruction in a small group in order to meet your child’s individual needs and increase learning potential.
I am originally from New England having moved to San Diego to pursue a graduate degree and fell in love with the sunshine.☺ I received my BA and Elementary Teacher Certification from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and began teaching elementary in Massachusetts. At SDSU, I earned my MA in Education with an emphasis in Special Education, as well as my Education Specialist Credential. I am new to Naranca Elementary, but I have been teaching in the San Diego area for over 16 years in general and special education settings. I am thrilled to be at Naranca this year!
On a more personal note, I have been married for 16 years and have 3 beautiful daughters, ages 13, 10 & 7. We spend a lot of our family time on the soccer fields and enjoy spending time in nature. I look forward to meeting you and working together to support your child’s academic, social and emotional needs!
Mrs. Smith’s Educational Philosophy:
“All Students can and want to learn. Providing students with the right academic and emotional supports will promote better self-esteem and increase motivation, ultimately, making them more likely to succeed in school.”
