    Dear Parents,

It has been great, meeting with all of you during Parent Conferences. This is a wonderful class, and it is easy to see why with all our terrific parents. By working together, we make a great team for your child.

Just a quick reminder that homework will be changing when we get back to school. Assignments will be given on the student's homework log. Math homework will have a daily worksheet, ST math will be required at least two times a week, while Achieve 3000 will be our reading homework two times a week. This will help you monitor their homework too. Again, Check the Homework Log for homework clarification. Please have your child practice their multiplication facts daily.

On Monday, we will be on a regular academic schedule. It will be a busy three weeks before Winter Break. We will be working on a fable/fairytale unit and will begin Division for math.

On another note, we are going to be making some holiday crafts for the next three weeks. Each child will need to bring in a box of 200 or 500 “Fold over” sandwich bags on Monday, December 3rd  with their name on the box. No Ziplocks bags, please.

On Wednesday, December 12th  at 12:00 we will be having our holiday party.  We will be having a Holiday Traditions Feast and making Gingerbread Houses to celebrate the Winter Holidays. It will be fun to experience a taste of one another’s holiday traditions. Please have your child bring in a 1/2 sandwich. It is a great idea to put the bite-sized tastes of your dish on cupcake papers. It makes it very easy to serve. Remember to have your child fill out an index card. The card should include their name, the name of the dish they brought, and why they chose the dish to represent their family tradition.

We will also be making Gingerbread houses around 1:00 to 2:00.  I will be asking parents to bring in their assigned supplies by Tuesday, December 12th as it takes some time in putting all the things together. Each child needs their own tub of regular white frosting. (Not whipped or light).  If you are planning to help with our holiday party, please be there at 11:30 to set up.

Also, on December 14th the 3rd-grade team is having a Polar Express Day. Students may wear PJs and slippers to the class that day. We will be having hot chocolate, forming a train, and watching a movie. Our train and treats will start at 10:15 am.  I will also need parents to help that day. Donations for cookies and hot chocolate would be appreciated.

    Thanks again for everything,

    Leslee Zitren
