The Cajon Valley Union School District is committed to providing a safe environment for all students using transportation services. Students must conduct themselves at all times in a manner that shows respect for themselves and consideration for others. Conduct expectations and rules are to ensure that the bus is safe for all passengers. Students who fail to follow these rules and disrupt the safe operation of our buses can lose their riding privileges and/or face additional consequences at the school. The safe transportation of our students is a responsibility that the Cajon Valley Union School District takes very seriously.

Student Conduct

• Arrive at your bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled stop time.
• Any damage done to public or private property at a bus stop shall result in transportation privileges being
• suspended in accordance with progressive discipline. Please note: Students who willfully and maliciously
• engage in damage to property may be subject to court fines, reparations, community services/or up to 3
• years of probation.
• Pupil clothing shall comply with CVUSD dress code standards.
• Conduct yourself in an orderly manner while waiting for the school bus.
• When the bus approaches, stay back 12 feet.
• Have your bus pass out and ready to scan when entering or exiting the bus; $5 replacement fee
• Show the driver your ticket and / or bus pass as you board the bus.
• Find a seat quickly and make room for others.
• Board and exit the bus in an orderly manner.
• Remain seated at all times while the bus is in motion.
• Use your regular voice to talk inside the bus.
• Keep the area around your seat clean.
• Be respectful to the driver and others on the school bus.

Riding Rules

• Pupils being transported are under the authority of the bus driver (CCR 14103).
• Bus passes are the property of CVUSD and may not be used by other students.
• Utilize seatbelts. Seatbelts are to remain fastened at all times while the bus is in motion.
• Eating, drinking, gum or tobacco chewing, spitting, smoking and vaping are not permitted.
• Fighting, wrestling, or boisterous activity is prohibited on the bus.
• Pupils shall use the closest emergency exit only in case of emergency.
• Animals, birds, reptiles, fish, insects, breakable containers, hazardous materials, weapons, or unsafe objects will not be transported.
• Objects shall not be thrown at, within, or out of the bus.
• Pupils shall sit upright, face the front of the bus, keep all body parts out of the aisle.
• Keep your hands to yourself.
• Pupils may be assigned seats by the bus driver.
• When necessary to cross the road, pupils shall cross in front of the bus, under the protection of the red lights, and follow the driver’s instructions.
• Pupils shall not extend their hands, arms, or body parts through the bus windows.
• Pupils are required to have written permission by parent/guardian to leave the bus other than at home or school.
• Harassment, profanity, vulgarity, or obscene gestures will not be tolerated.
• Pupils shall keep the bus clean and shall refrain from damaging and or vandalizing it.
• Use of cell phones, Chromebooks, laptops, tablets etc. are prohibited on the school bus.
• All pupils are prohibited from creating disturbances such as taking pictures, filming with a cell phone, sharing videos, or any activities that could distract the driver.
