CVUSD LEA-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy

1.0 Policy Overview

The local governing board of each local educational agency (LEA) shall establish and implement a written parent and family engagement policy. The LEA incorporates the parent and family engagement policy into the LEA level plan.

1.1 Parent and Family Input

Parents and family members provide input into the development of plans at SSC, ELAC, DELAC, and district surveys. The district will provide opportunities for family engagement through flexible scheduling to increase accessibility for all families.

1.2 Communication

The LEA uses ParentSquare, school meetings, and district communication systems. The district will streamline communication into a clear, consistent system and provide families with advance notice of at least two weeks for major events. The district will ensure parent communications and events are consistently accessible in the primary languages of families through translation and interpretation services.

1.3 Academic Supports

The LEA provides Parent University, workshops, and resources. The district will expand academic support by offering family workshops, tutoring opportunities, and resources to help parents support student learning at home (academic support for families).

1.4 Feedback and Accountability

The LEA evaluates the effectiveness of the policy annually. The district will provide timely responses to parent input and concerns to strengthen transparency and accountability. Annual evaluations of family engagement will include family feedback on communication, scheduling, and inclusivity. Results will be shared publicly and used to refine practices.
