Applying for Free and Reduced-Price Meals

    Application Requirements:

We encourage you to APPLY ONLINE at http://mealapp.cajonvalley.net/. You may also find the link to the Online Free & Reduced Meals Application located on the Home page of the Cajon Valley website, listed on the left-hand side under Site Shortcuts.   A new application is required every school year.  Only ONE application is required PER HOUSEHOLD.  Households have 30 school days from the beginning of school to submit a new application or the student's status will revert to full price and the student will have to pay the full price for his/her meals until a new application is processed.

Students retain the prior year's status until the new application is processed (if submitted within the first 30 days of school).  Foster children no longer need a separate meal application, they can be included on the family application. Be sure to check the foster child box and include the student's personal income. They will still be eligible to received free meals and the other students on the application will be processed with only their income.

Please complete ONE original application per family and return to the school office of your choice (no faxes and/or copies will be accepted).

Returning Students: An application must be completed for the 2019-2020 school year. Please return the application to the school office as soon as possible for prompt processing. Meals will not continue beyond October 2, 2019, without a newly processed application on file.

New Students: Student meal benefits will begin when a complete meal application has been processed at the Child Nutrition office and communicated to the school.  You will need to send a LUNCH from home OR MONEY with your child to purchase lunch until your new application has been approved and you have received an approval letter from our office. New students and preschool/kindergarten student applications can be obtained at your children's school office after August 14th or you may contact the Child Nutrition Department at 619.588.3111.  Application Packets are also available for pick-up at the Child Nutrition office located at 225 Roanoke Road, El Cajon, CA 92020.

Review sample instructions and application using the related file links below.

Confidential notification of meal eligibility status will be sent via the U.S. Postal Service. Please make sure your household's correct mailing address is on the application and given to the school office.
