School Mission Statement

The Sevick staff is committed to providing early intervention for young children through special education programs and the state funded preschool program. The belief that all children benefit from a variety of early childhood experiences is put into practice as children have the opportunity to discover their world.

Children are actively engaged in a wide variety of learning experiences appropriate to their individual ability level. The staff believes that all children are entitled to learn alongside other children of their same age in order to nurture friendships and social acceptance. Of particular importance is the belief that parent-professional partnerships are a key component of a successful early intervention program.

The Sevick School Plan, written collaboratively by staff and parents, provides the guidelines for our program. This document contains a strong statement of our philosophy and the elements which support that philosophy such as the learning environment, staffing pattern, curriculum, organization of classes, and program delivery models. The school plan ends with our vision for the future which includes a commitment to continually monitor and review ways in which services to young children and their families can be improved.
